Islam is not monolithic. So what is normal in one area is not in another. Pictorial representations are rare in Turkey but the further you get from Turkey the more we see it. In Iran Jesus is not unusual in Tabriz rugs and seen across the country. Most rugs are made for sale so a weaver looks to weave what she can sell. By the way even though Christians and Moslems disagree on some key points both acknowledge Jesus.
