Thanks for your message. The term "flat woven" applies to some tribal rugs as well as Kilims where there is no pile. To mesaure KPSI, the best thing to do is to find an area on the back of the rug where the colors vary so you can count easier. You need to count the number of horizental knots and vertical knots and multiply the two. It is not easy with some rugs as they are tightly woven.
