| *Message was: i recently visited a Persian carpet dealer who showed me the new 70-80 raj tabriz and some very fine silk ghoms. It has been a while since i have seen the new iranian carpet production but three things immediately struck me. |
1. The Tabriz's are very flimsy, the colors seem flat, almost like they copied chinese colors, and the wool seemed to soft, not true Tabriz wool.
2. The silk ghoms have no body to them. The dealer said they were Persian and I will give him the benefit of the doubt but the look and feel was not Persian. The rugs were fine but lacking in soul or character.
3. The rugs did not have life to them. They were technically ok but compared to the rugs of the 50's. 60's and early seventies they were dead.
Does anybody else get this feeling?
